2023 Terrier Draft Recap

The Portage Terriers selected 7 players in the 2023 MJHL entry draft held on Sunday morning in Winnipeg at the Alt Hotel.

The Dogs selected five defencemen, one forward and one goaltender.

Reece Gault (07, D, 5’8”, 119, 1st Rd, 13th Overall) – The Oak Bank product had 28 points in 24 games for the RINK H.A. U16 Winnipeg Prep squad. He played 10 games with their U18 team and added five assists. He was drafted, 5th Round, #105 overall by Red Deer Rebels in the WHL Bantam Draft. “He impressed everybody at our evaluation camp.” says Terrier head scout Angus Moar. “We were happy he was there when our turn came around. Could be able to step into our lineup next season”

Finley Titterson (07, D, 5’10, 147, 2nd Rd, 27th Overall) – Last season the Winnipeg product had 23 points in 24 games for the College Beliveau Barracudas (CAHS). “Another guy who impressed us at camp. We liked his aggressiveness and he competed at a high level.”

Jack Bilous (07, F, 5’7”, 142, 4th Rd, 56th Overall) – Bilous had 37 points in 35 games for the RINK H. A. Winnipeg U16 Prep last season. “Jack is a player that has considerable compete in his game and has shown hockey instincts that will allow him to play at the higher level.”

Carter Bilous (07, D, 5’11”, 159, 5th Rd, 69th Overall) – Not related to previous selection Jack Bilous, the young defenceman played 44 games last season for the provincial champion Winnipeg Wild U18 AAA and had 6 points. “He showed considerable poise and steadily improved his game throughout the Winter. Considerable upside with this player.”

Gage Parnell (07, D, 5’9, 150, 6th Rd, 83rd Overall) – the Terriers are proud to select Gage Parnell from the Sturgeon Heights HS Huskies (CAHS). Last season the Winnipeg product had 14 points in 24 games. “Another player that came to our evaluation camp and impressed everybody. Steady defender who can move the puck and use his talent to get the puck to a better spot.”

Peyton Kettles (07, D, 6’4”, 166, 7th Rd, 97th Overall) – Kettles comes from the Rink H.A. Winnipeg U18 Prep team and last season the Winnipeg product had 16 points in 22 games. Drafted in the 1st round (#6 overall) by Swift Current Broncos in the WHL Bantam Draft, he played two games for them last season. “He is a high end player who if he does end up in a Terrier uniform will make us a better team.”

Brady Low (07, G, 6’0”, 154, 8th Rd, 110th Overall) – Low played 17 games last season for the Rink H.A. Winnipeg U16 Prep team. The Brandon product posted a 1.64 GAA and .924 SV%. “Has been a constant at our camps and we see improvement every time we see him. Battles for pucks and has good instincts in the net. Looking forward to seeing him in the fall.”
