Around the Pound: February 2, 2026

It was a quieter week on the ice for the Terriers with only two home games over the last seven days. Portage fell 3-0 to the Niverville Nighthawks on Tuesday, which was a makeup game from December that was cancelled due to poor road conditions. On Sunday night the Terriers beat the Winkler Flyers for the fifth time this season, 6-5. The win was the 750th regular season win for head coach and GM Blake Spiller. He broke Doug Stokes’ wins record of 670 in 2024.

On Friday the Portage Terriers added G Logan Cunningham (05) to the roster. “With the uncertainty of our injury situation in goal we felt it necessary to add another goaltender to our roster,” says Terrier coach and GM Blake Spiller. “We are fortunate an experienced goaltender was available this late in the season.” Cunningham (6’3″, 190) has spent parts of four seasons in the WHL with the Victoria Royals, Edmonton Oil Kings and Saskatoon Blades. Cunningham picked up the win in his first start on Sunday against Winkler.
At the game on Tuesday, Marilyn Gagnon’s name was drawn for the Panko’s Food Centre Meat Draw! Congrats Marilyn!
On Sunday, Owen Witt was named the Fehr Auto & Ag Terrier of the month for January. He had five points in eight games.
