Blues Edge Out Terriers in Overtime

For the second straight game, it would take extra time for a winner to be decided, but unfortunately it didn’t end well for the Terriers at Stride Place tonight.

Sokoloski battles Kuczek in the neutral zone.

After a scoreless first period, the Blues Goodbrandson opened the scoring on the powerplay 2:25 in to the second. Portage was quick to answer with Ripplinger picking up his 3rd of the season. Cody Thompson gave the Terriers their first with a blistering point shot that found mesh on the powerplay.

Portage maintained their lead for most of the third with multiple chances to pad their lead, they just couldn’t put another passed netminder Jeremy Link.  Late in the third the Terriers were caught pinching and turned over the puck to former Terrier Dexter Kuczek who beat Brock AIken on the breakaway to tie the game at 2.

It was looking like the extra frame would not decide a winner when Dylan Cassie scored the game winner with 28 seconds left to pick up the two points.

Next up for the Terriers is Wild Wednesday against the OCN Blizzard.
