The Terriers were on the road to Winnipeg last night to face the Blues.
With 11 seconds to go in the first Ty Naaykens opened the scoring on the powerplay and from that point the Blues never relinquished their lead.
Early in the 2nd Szun doubled the Blues lead picking the corner from the hash marks on the rush. Portage would get on the board less than 4 minutes later with the wrap around, an unassisted marker from Chase Brakel.
Maxwell restored Winnipeg’s 2 goal lead at the 1:57 mark.
With 20 minutes to go, Portage was looking to close the gap. Owen Murray batted in the rebound for his 8th of the season at 11:11.
With 2 minutes to go and an offensive zone faceoff, Portage called a time out and put out the extra attacker, but Shortreed nailed the empty net to seal the Terriers’ fate.
Portage outshot Winnipeg 44-27 and went 1/6 on the powerplay, allowing one powerplay goal on 4 attempts. Peterson earns the loss in net.
Portage heads to Virden this Thursday to face the Oil Capitals. Game time 7:30pm.
