Brakel wins Awards

Brakel being presented the Liquor and Lotteries IMPACT Player of the month award for December from Olympic Silver medalist Janine Stephens.

Winnipeg born Chase Brakel is logging big minutes and getting noticed in his rookie season in the MJHL.

The 5’10, 170 pound forward has really settled in to his first junior season. In 40 games played, the 17 year old currently has 16 goals and 13 assists and was named the IBAM MJHL Rookie of the month for December.

Brakel was also awarded the Liquor and Lotteries IMPACT Player of the month for December as chosen by the Terriers coaching staff.

Coach and GM Blake Spiller looks to Brakel to play a lot of minutes for the club as well as being on the power play and penalty kill. He’s constantly improving and works hard.

Brakel sees the awards as a real honor. “There’s a lot a great rookies in the league this year, especially on our team so it’s pretty cool to be recognized as one of them. I think my season has been going well and I feel like I am improving as the year goes on. I am really looking forward to playoffs having never experienced a junior playoff game.”
