Laforest named MGEU Goaltender of the Month

Terriers starting goaltender Laforest has been garnering a lot of attention at the right time.  After receiving the Recycle Everywhere Player of the Week for the 3rd time this season, Laforest has now been named MGEU Goaltender of the month. Does any of this matter to the 19 year old Carleton Place native? ” It’s really nice to be recognized, but in the end it’s the championship that I really want. ”

Laforest is excited to get it started. Even thought it’s his first year donning the Terriers’ jersey, he knows the rivalry with the Pistons well, thinking it will bring out the best in both teams. When asked how his game needs to change to play in Steinbach’s small rink, he doesn’t think it needs to. ” My game won’t change. I just have to be ready at all times because the play will develop that much faster and the shots get to the net quicker. ”

When asked if the pressure gets to him and how he deals with it, Laforest was quick to brush it off. ” The pressure is what makes it exciting. I just need to block out any distractions and play my game. ”

The MJHL final starts Wednesday April 8th at the PCU Centre, 7:30pm.
