The Portage Terriers held their annual Louis Riel Day Classic on Monday Feb. 16. For full game details, see the recap here.
Prior to the game, the Manitoba Metis Federation paid tribute to Metis athlete and Terrier Alumni Adam Calder. They also presented sashes to Metis Terriers; Logan Cunningham and Donavan Bodnar.
Local Metis steppers performed in the first intermission and Sylvie Dion played the fiddle with Cameron Ducharme on guitar during both breaks.
After the game, the Terriers held a family skate brought to you by Tim Hortons! Hundreds of fan joined them on the ice for some fun! While that was happening, the annual Terrier hockey cards were released in the lobby with half the team signing autographs.
The Terriers wore special jerseys designed by a local Metis artist. They were all auctioned off with almost $5000 being raised for Metis cultural programming.
Thank you to everyone who came out and enjoyed the day!
Here is the opening ceremony along with the Metis anthem by Krista Rey!
