The Portage Terriers made four selections, two forwards and two defencemen, in the 2024 MJHL Draft held Sunday June 2.
Round 1, Pick 9 – Jonah Lemoine (F, 5’7″, 145lbs, Brandon, MB) – “He’s a skilled right winger from Brandon. He has always been a contributor to the Brandon AAA programs,” says Terrier head scout Angus Moar. Last season he 45 points in 44 games on a dominant team that went 43-0-1 and a trip to the final in the Telus Cup. He was drafted in 2023 by the Prince Albert Raiders (WHL) (9th round, 178th overall)
Round 4, Pick 48 – Jack Perrier (F, 5’11”, 168lbs, Darlingford, MB) had 18 points in 21 games last season with the Pilot Mound Academy. “He has a nose for the net and continues to improve each season,” says Moar.
Round 5, Pick 65 – Nolan Saunderson (D, 5’11”, 157 lbs, Brandon, MB) “We think he is a highly skilled, highly competitive dman who also plays in Brandon. He was originally from the Carberry area,” says Moar. He was drafted in 2023 by the Spokane Chiefs (WHL) (5th round, 90th overall)
Round 6, Pick 74 – Luan Van Wyk (D, 5’11”, 185lbs, Portage, MB) “The local product played last season with Central Plains U17,” says Moar. ” He has his best results when his compete level is high. He has the ability to be a shutdown physical type of defender.” As an assistant captain he put up seven points in 34 games.
