Stewart Signs Contract With Moose

Terrier Alumni Dean Stewart has signed a 1-year contract with the Manitoba Moose (AHL) for the 2021-22 season.

“The biggest reason for choosing Manitoba was the opportunity I’ll have to play there. Some of the teams I had offers from had more young defencemen similar to me, where as Winnipeg’s organization was a little less saturated,” says Stewart. “Of course, getting to play close to home is a huge bonus. I’ll get to see my friends and family much more frequently and they’ll be able to come to lots of the games.”

Stewart played for the Terriers from 2014-16, won two league titles, and an RBC Cup. The Portage product was drafted after his second season by the Arizona Coyotes. He then  played four seasons at the University of Nebraska-Omaha and was named captain in his final year.

Following his collegiate career, Stewart played last season for the Witchita Thunder (ECHL) and won their team award for defenceman of the year.
