Terrier Training Camp A Success

The Portage Terriers held their main training camp this weekend at Stride Place. Players hit the ice Friday night and Saturday throughout the day.

They were given an opportunity to earn a spot on this year’s squad. Some of the players were already familiar with the routine after having attended the Terrier prospects camp Sept. 4-5.

“I thought the camp went very well,” says Terrier head coach and GM Blake Spiller. “We still have 33 players remaining and will reduce that number down after our first exhibition game on Sunday.”

The Terriers will play three exhibition games before the regular season starts on October 9th. The first game will be Sunday at 3:00 PM against the Virden Oil Capitals. It will feature players who are new to the Terrier organization, including recently acquired Rhys Raeside and Jack Oleksiuk. They both came over from the Winnipeg Blues in separate trades last week.
