Terriers Acquire Defenceman

PORTAGE, August 9, 2021 – The Portage Terriers have traded D Naaman Hofer (04) and the MJHL list rights to F Peter Magnus (05) to the Winnipeg Freeze in exchange for D Brandt Young (03) and future considerations.

Young (6’0”, 170) played five games last season with the Winnipeg Freeze before joining the Winnipeg Ice (WHL) for 17 games in the Regina bubble. The Neepawa product was originally drafted by the Waywayseecappo Wolverines in the second round (12th overall) in the 2018 MJHL Bantam draft.

Young was an assistant captain with the Freeze and was named an RBC Community Ambassador. He was also featured on the MJHL podcast in March 2021.

Hofer played six games with the Terriers as a 16-year-old rookie in the abbreviated 2020-21 season and picked up one assist. Magnus was drafted in the second round (21st overall) by the Terriers in the 2020 MJHL Bantam draft.
