Terriers Acquire Hometown Forward

The Portage Terriers have acquired the list rights for Portager (01) F Max Neill from the Steinbach Pistons in exchange for the list rights of (01) D Zac Patrick and future considerations.

Patrick (6’0”, 176 lbs) played 95 games over two seasons with the Kootney Ice (WHL) before coming to the Terriers. Last year the Winnipeg product played one game for the Winnipeg Ice (WHL) and seven with Portage putting up one assist.

A former Central Plains Capital, Neill (6’1”, 190 lbs) has played the last two seasons with the Steinbach Pistons. Throughout his MJHL career he has recorded 42 points in 106 games. Last season his production doubled to 28 points (15G, 13A).

Terrier head coach and GM Blake Spiller says he offers a lot more than scoring. “He is a tenacious physical player who is very good on the forecheck. He has skill and the ability to provide offence.”

Neill is reportedly headed to the Johnstown Tomahawks (NAHL) to start the season. Spiller hopes to see him in a Terrier jersey. “We would definitely welcome Max back if he chooses to return to his hometown.”
