The Portage Terriers have traded F Thomas Kaufield (03) to Winnipeg Blues for MJHL list rights of D Evan Toth (02).
Toth (6’2”, 205) has spent the last three seasons in the WHL, most recently with the Vancouver Giants. The Winnipeg product had 17 points in 59 games last season with the Giants. “He would be a huge pick up for our team should he come available at some point,” says Terrier head coach and GM Blake Spiller. The big defender was drafted in the 4th round (40th overall) by the Winnipeg Blues in 2017 and played two games for the club in 2018/19.
Kaufield came to the Terriers last season and put up 13 points in 36 games as a rookie. “Thomas has some familiarity with the Blues new coach Alex Mandolidis, so will be a good opportunity for him,” says Spiller.
