Terriers Add Veteran Goalie and Forward

The Portage Terriers have acquired G Bailey Monteith (02) and the CJHL rights to F Calder Anderson (02) from the Virden Oil Capitals for the MJHL list rights to F Daniel Tokariwski (05) and Future Considerations.

Monteith (5’11”, 165), who is from Kamloops, BC, started last season in the BCHL with the Trail Smoke Eaters before moving over to Virden. With the Oil Capitals he had a 12-5-1 record, 3.27 GAA and .903 sv% in the regular season, and was 6-2-2 in the playoffs.

“We feel the acquisition of Monteith along with Jayden Catellier will give us a solid tandem in goal,” says Terrier Head Coach and GM Blake Spiller. “Anderson is with Brandon Wheat Kings and would be a welcome addition if he was made available.”

Anderson (5’10”, 172) has spent the last three seasons in the WHL with the Moose Jaw Warriors. He posted 26 points in 98 games. He also has played two games with the Winkler Flyers and four with the Neepawa Titans. The Brandon product was traded to the Wheat Kings from Moose Jaw earlier this month.

Tokariwski, who is headed to the Oil Capitals, was called up for three games at the end of last season by the Terriers. The Winnipeg product had 64 points in 43 games for the Winnipeg Thrashers U18 AAA.
