Leaders in agricultural innovation, stewardship, and community support were recognized on Friday night at the Portage Terriers’ Ag Appreciation night in partnership with the Portage la Prairie & District Chamber of Commerce.
The night kicked off with a session from Dr. Kevin Falk from Corteva Agriscience teaching the crowd of farmers and local ag businesses about bio genetics and latest research technology.

After supper, the Chamber of Commerce handed out three awards to deserving members of the community.
The Ag Innovation & Sustainability Award was presented to Agri Stainless, a company founded by Manitobans with farming roots who developed precision-engineered stainless steel components designed to reduce equipment wear, extend the life of seeding equipment, and minimize costly downtime for producers.

The Farm of the Year Award was awarded to Precision Farms for its strong leadership and commitment to sustainable farming. The operation was recognized for transforming previously non-producing land into productive farmland through significant investment, collaboration with industry experts, and responsible land stewardship.

The Ag Community Champion Award was presented to Gary Bohn, recognizing his long-standing dedication to strengthening agriculture through education, mentorship, and community service. Bohn has played a key role in connecting students with agriculture through school partnerships and industry programs, while also mentoring staff throughout his career and supporting numerous local community initiatives.

“These awards celebrate the people and businesses who continue to move agriculture forward in our region,” said Stefanie Dunn, Executive Director of the Portage la Prairie & District Chamber of Commerce. “From innovation on the farm to mentorship and community leadership, each of these recipients represents the strength and future of agriculture in our community.”
The awards highlight the ongoing collaboration between the Chamber and the Portage Terriers to recognize the importance of agriculture and the individuals who help drive the industry forward in the region.
The evening wrapped up with a great comedy show from Winnipeg’s Chad Anderson.
Thanks to everyone who attended!
