PORTAGE, MB, Nov. 7, 2025 – The Portage Terriers picked up their third win in a row on Friday night beating the Dauphin Kings 5-1 on Military Appreciation Night at Stride Place.
The Terrier offence came out firing early in the first period. Lucas Bailey found himself with some space near the middle of the first frame, and a tip from Trevor Hill got through, for Hill’s 13th goal of the season. 1-0 Portage.
Portage would get on the board again two minutes later on the power play. Hill notched his second of the night with another tip in front making it a 2-0 game.
He adds his feelings on being a contributor. “I’m glad I’m able to help produce, and we’re getting wins as a team, and that’s the most important part of all of this.”
Owen Witt joined the scoring just over three minutes later with a seeing-eye shot that the Kings netminder never saw, making it 3-0. That’s where the score would stay after 20 minutes.
The Terriers survived a bounce-back period by the Kings in the second, as they were outshot by a huge margin. The teams traded powerplay goals as Dauphin would score in the middle of the frame. Portage would answer with 49 seconds left, as Drayden Uhrina corralled a rebound and put it home to make it 4-1 after 40 minutes.
Rhett Platt would tally his ninth goal of the season in the third, and that would do it for the score. Donovan Bodnar stopped 40 of 41 shots in the winning effort.
He notes what gave him confidence in the game.
“Just knowing that the D-men are going to be back, we had a good F3 (forward back-checking) all game, it just helps me be confident in challenging the shooter. Just being confident in the whole team as a group. There’s a vibe that we’re all coming back together and going to win.”
The Terriers finish off their home and home series with the Kings on Sunday in Dauphin. Puck drop is at 4pm and the game will be broadcast on 920AM CFRY.
