Terriers Drop Game 2 in Winnipeg

The Terriers find themselves trailing 2-0 in the best of 7 round one series after tonight’s 5-1 loss in Winnipeg.

Skoleski tallied the first goal of the game beating Petersen on a scramble in front 13:56 into the first period for a 1-0 Blues lead after 20 minutes.

The Terriers’ Cody Thompson tied the game early in the second beating Link with a point shot through traffic. Portage’s momentum was short lived as Bartlett regained the Blues lead 2 minutes later.  Winnipeg’s Skoleski picked up his 3rd goal of the series and 2nd of the night for a 3-1 Blues lead heading in to the 3rd.

Portage had opportunities, but just couldn’t find the back of the net struggling to get to rebounds. Looking to fight their way back into the game, Portage pulled their goalie with over 5 minutes on the clock, but came up short. Sutherland added an empty netter for a 5-1 final.

” I don’t think we were hard enough on them. I thought Link was good here tonight…I thought he challenged and we just didn’t find a way to get one by him. I thought their team was real good here tonight and we didn’t respond like we needed to. ” Coach Blake Spiller

Game 3 is this Tuesday at Stride Place. The Terriers will be looking to get back in the series with their first win.
