Terriers Earn Spot in Turnbull Cup Final With a Sweep Over Virden

With a 5-2 win over the Oil Capitals in Virden Thursday night, the Terriers are the first to team to earn their spot in the Turnbull Cup Final sweeping the first two rounds with 8 straight wins.

Portage jumped out to the early lead with a goal from Kolton Shindle, his second of the post season coming 1:19 into the first.

Virden was quick to respond, Belcher getting a rebound by Peterson to tie the game at one. Jared Roy regained Portage`s lead scoring off the rush for his second of the post season.

Shindle ended the frame with a tap in of the perfect set up pass from Chase Brakel and Portage led 3-1.

The Terriers increased their lead early in the second with Funk putting one over the shoulder of Moroz for a 3 goal spread. Tristan Cross went top corner on Peterson to breathe a little life into Tundra Oil and Gas Place, but it was short lived.

Portage managed to control the third period and Virden was unable to mount a comeback. Mickoski squeaked one by Moroz for a 5-2 Portage final.

Peterson picks up the win with 23 saves.
