The Portage Terriers battled their way to a 4-2 loss at the hands of the Steinbach Pistons in Game 2 of their Turnbull Cup Quarter-final series.

Portage started the game with a bang, scoring in the first 35 seconds. Drayden Uhrina notched the first goal of the night for the second game in a row, to put Portage up 1-0, where it stayed after 20 minutes.

The Pistons flipped the script in the second period, scoring a trio of goals in a three minute span from Liam Doyle, Jack Greenwell on the power play and Jackson Kostiuk. Portage was unable to respond and it would be 3-1 through 2 periods.

The Terriers drew two penalties early in the third period but couldn’t capitalize. Steinbach added another goal minutes later to put the game out of reach. Adam Belzil recorded a late power play goal with the net empty to give the final score of 4-2 Steinbach.

The teams will return to Steinbach on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at the Southeast Event Centre.
