Terriers Fall to Brooks 5-3

After finding themselves up 3-1, Portage gives up 2 goals in 90 seconds to fall 5-3 to the Brooks Bandits in game 2 of the 2019 NJAC.

Following a scoreless 60 minutes for the Anavet Cup Champs against the Ottawa Jr Senators yesterday, Reilly Funk scores the first of the tournament on their first shot of the game 10:16 into the opening frame against Brooks.

Reece Henry doubled Portage`s lead at 14:57 putting it in off a Brooks defenceman.

Lucas scored a powerplay marker for the Bandits with 1:14 left in the first for a 2-1 Portage lead after 20 minutes.

Captain Ty Barnstable scored his first of the tournament tipping a Huston point shot passed Charleson on the powerplay to regain the dogs 2 goal lead.

The lead was short lived as the Bandits potted 2 goals 17 seconds apart in the last minute of the second to notch the game at 3.

Just 53 seconds into the first, Gravel banged home a goal for the Bandit’s first lead of the game and the eventual game winner.

Portage pulled Peterson with 2:07 remaining in the third with an offensive face off looking for the equalizer, but Murray picked up a minor slashing and Gravel scored an empty netter for his second of the game.

Peterson had a solid night in net backing 42 shots in the loss. Portage went 1/1 on the powerplay and while Brooks was 2/5.

The Terriers have Monday off as they get set to play the Oakville Blades Tuesday, game time 3:00CST.
