Terriers Falter in Virden

Portage struggled on the powerplay going 0/4 while Virden capitalized 3 times with the man advantage giving them the edge in a 5-4 Oil Cap final.

The first 20 minutes saw a total of 6 goals scored with Virden’s Kanaski scoring first on the powerplay 4:01 into the game. Barnstable tied the game at one with a behind the back helper from McPhee.Einarson regained Virden’s lead and Barnstable answered with his 2nd of the night. Sidoni and Einarson each went on to find the back of the net for a 4-2 Oil Cap lead after the first.

Sheldin Howard scored for Portage 6:30 into the second on a rebound to draw within one with Reilly Funk tying the game a few minutes later with a wrister off the draw that surprised Dosch.

It took a powerplay in the third to decide the winner, Tristen Cross scoring on a point shot.

Nathan Moore picks up the loss in net facing 34 shots.

Portage with their second straight loss sits in first 7 points ahead of the Stampeders, the two teams will face off tonight in Swan Valley for an important 2 points.
