The Portage Terriers had a Murphy’s Law game, where everything that could go wrong, it seemed, did go wrong in a 7-0 defeat at the hands of the Selkirk Steelers.
The Terriers had a rough start in the first period. They gave up three goals in the first period on 21 shots, and only managed 6 shots on the Steelers netminder, Ethan Sawyer. 3-0 after 1.
The second period proved little aside from Selkirk’s opportunism, adding another trio of goals to make it 6-0.
The final frame saw Selkirk add one more goal, and a line brawl ensued, but no goals for Portage.
There will be little time for the Terriers to think about it though, as they hit the road to Steinbach on Sunday. Puck drop is set for 6 p.m.
