Terriers ground Flyers

On Thursday night in front of 1265 fans, the Terriers biggest crowd of the year, Portage beat the 2nd place Winkler Flyers in an afternoon game.

The Terriers carried the play in the first outshooting the Flyers 14-3 and the period would end scoreless. The Flyers stepped up their game in the second and Mansbridge beat Park just as the penalty to Ian Mackey expired giving the Flyers a one nothing lead that would last until the 3rd.

Captain Brad Bowles would score for Portage at 6:07 of the 3rd to even things at one on a pass from Henry. He would then bury the game winner and his 2nd of the night as Slipp lost track of the puck in the crease.

The Terriers and Flyers are now 2-2 in their meetings this season. The Terriers remain at the top of the leader board 9 points ahead of both the Flyers and the Pistons with 3 and 2 games at hand respectively. The Terriers play host to the Steinbach Pistons for their first game of the new year, tomorrow night at the PCU Centre game time 7:30.
