Terriers hold 1st Annual Christmas Dinner

Lynn Parker Director of ROC thanking the Terriers for their involvement and donation with Recreation Opportunities for Children.

Last night the Terriers held their 1st annual Christmas Dinner at the PCU Centre. There were just over 100 in attendance and they were treated to a traditional turkey dinner with all the trimmings.

Defenceman Brock Weston was the emcee and started off the evening with thanking everyone for coming and their continued support of the team this season. Each table was then served and joined by one of the Terriers.

Will Utech Manager of Champ’s Corner and organizer of the event said he was really pleased with the team’s support of this event. “I thought the players did a great job serving and visiting with the guests. This is something that I have wanted to do for a while now and just decided this is the year.” Will said there were a few things that came up that he will change for next year making the event even better, but wanted to make sure we thanked everyone for coming and making it a success and to all his staff for doing a great job.

$3 from each ticket sold as well as the proceeds from the centerpieces were donated to local non-profit ROC-Recreational Opportunities for Children. Director Lynn Parker was on hand to accept the cheque from Captain Brad Bowles for the total of $290 raised.

“I was surprised when I was contacted and told that the money raised here tonight would be going to ROC. The kids that take part in this program are often hungry and this money will go a long way towards purchasing snacks that we can hand out to the kids at our activities.”

Lynn also thanked Cody Haiskanen, Ian Mackey and Chase Brakel for donating their time each week to help underprivileged kids learning how to play hockey. “It’s awesome to have these players come out each week. It gives the kids someone to look up to and they’re so excited learning to skate.” – Lynn Parker

The evening ended with a surprise for everyone in attendance when Brock Weston asked his teammates to join him at the front of the room and they sang We Wish you a Merry Christmas.

Thanks again to Champ’s Corner and everyone who attended. The Terrier’s would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a safe and happy holiday season.
