Terriers Lose to OCN in Showcase

The Terriers hit the ice tonight for their first game of the MJHL Showcase vs. the OCN Blizzard.

All teams will play 2 games over 3 days out of the Bell MTS Ice-plex in front of scouts from various leagues, Universities and Colleges.

There was no score after 20 minutes and the Terriers outshot the Blizzard 12-8 despite OCN having a 2 man advantage for 1:15 seconds where they didn’t register a shot.

Portage had their chances early in the second with 2 powerplay opportunities that they were unable to cash in on. Trygve Many Guns opened the scoring at 11:30 of the second on a Portage turnover.

A few minutes later Emilien Boily thought he had the puck covered, but Jacob Brown poked it by him to even the game at one.

Mark Liwiski scored the game winner with :47 left in the second when the Terriers failed to get it out of their own end.

Portage saw 2 more powerplays in the third and pulled Petersen for the extra attacker with a minute and a half to go and just couldn’t find the back of the net. Dale scored the empty netter for a 3-1 OCN final.

Petersen faced 21 shots in the loss and the Terriers went 0/5 on the powerplay.

Portage finishes up the Showcase on Wednesday against the Winnipeg Blues at 7:30pm.
