Terriers Sneak Past Stampeders

The Portage Terriers got back in the win column on Saturday night, edging the Swan Valley Stampeders 3-2.

The first period was all Portage, with the Terriers outshooting the Stampeders 18-2. Trevor Hill got them on the board with his league leading 38th goal of the season from Drayden Uhrina and Ben Albers. 1-0 Terriers after 1.

Portage picked up where they left off in the second period adding two more goals. Affiliated call up Dylan Russell finished off a nice pass from Uhrina for his first MJHL goal in his second game. Four minutes later Hill scored his second of the night with a one timer in front of the net. 3-0 Terriers after 2.

Swan Valley started to mount a comeback midway through the third period with two quick tallies just over a minute a part. Both goals were quite similar with the Stampeders driving to the net and tucking it around the pad of Logan Cunningham. Portage was able to hang on to their one goal lead for their 33rd win of the season.

It’s a quick turnaround for the Terriers, who are in Dauphin tomorrow afternoon at 4:30pm. The game will be broadcast on 920AM CFRY.
