Portage started 2017 off right with a 3-2 win on the road over the Oil Capitals. After falling 7-4 to Virden New Year’s eve, the Terriers were looking for payback and 2 points last night.
McIsaac opened the scoring late in the first burying a pass from Brakel on the powerplay. The Terriers had the lead after one and outshot Virden 18-12.
Chase Brakel scored his 24th of the season beating Audet from the slot for a 2-0 lead. Kirkup would cut the Terriers lead to one tipping a shot by Chapman on the powerplay at 15:51 of the frame.
Hoping for another third period comeback, Knorr woke up the crowd with a game tying goal with 5:28 to go. James McIsaac scored the game winner less than 2 minutes later with his 2nd of the night.
Chapman picks up his 4th win in net with 40 saves on the night.
The Terriers next game is Wednesday at home versus the Steinbach Pistons in their 3rd meeting this season. Portage will be looking for their first win.
