It was a solid 60 minutes for the Terriers last night winning 8-2 over Selkirk picking up their 4th straight win.
The league leading Connor Barley opened the scoring halfway through the opening frame beating Ethan Peterson from the bottom of the circle. Portage answered shortly thereafter with back to back goals from Reilly Funk and Ty Barnstable giving the Terriers a 2-1 lead after 20 minutes.
Nate Halvorsen evened the game at 2 with a powerplay marker, his point shot finding the back of the net. Portage went on a tear from there, scoring 6 unanswered goals.
Funk scoring his 2nd and Billaney and Henry each picking up goals of their own in the second.
Early in the third Ryan Sokoloski was given a 5 minute penalty for a blow to the head. Portage went to work scoring 2 on the powerplay. Shindle with his 5th of the season in his first game back from injury and Barnstable with his 2nd of the game. Henry topped off the scoring with his 2nd of the night.
Peterson earns his 4th win in net and the dogs went 2/5 on the powerplay. Portage remains in first place by one point over Swan Valley.
Next up the Terriers head to Wayway on sunday to take on the Wolverines. Game time 6:00pm.
