Terriers Storm Past Blizzard

The Portage Terriers recorded their third consecutive win shutting out the Northern Manitoba Blizzard by a 5-0 score on Louis Riel Monday. Before the game the Manitoba Metis Federation held a tribute for Terrier Alumni and Metis hockey player Adam Calder. The MMF also held a sash ceremony for the two Metis Terrier players; Logan Cunningham and Donavan Bodnar.

Once the game began, the Portage Terriers looked strong from start to finish, outshooting the Blizzard 58-12. Ben Bugeaud opened the scoring early in the first period, as Dylan Karran found him across the ice. Bugeaud buried it into the wide-open cage to make it 1-0, where it would stay after the first 20 minutes.

The Terriers added three goals in the second frame from Jonah Lemoine, Justin Deschenes, and Edward Knittig, making it 4-0 after the second period.

Knittig deflected another one in the third period, to reach a final score of 5-0 for the Terriers, with Donavan Bodnar recording his first MJHL shutout.

The team will return to action on Friday night as the Selkirk Steelers will come to town.

After the game, the team hosted their annual skate with the Terriers and hockey card day, with tons of cards handed out and signed.
