A tough night on the ice saw Portage fall 7-2 at the hands of the Steinbach Pistons in their fourth matchup of the season.
The Dogs found themselves in a bit of trouble early, giving up an early goal for the second game in a row. The Pistons notched three in the opening frame, but Terriers’ defenceman Beck Bethard added his first as a Terrier just past halfway through the period to make it 3-1 at the first intermission.
The second period brought more of the same, as the Pistons were opportunistic, adding two more goals, while Portage was unable to crack the scoresheet for the fourth period of their last five played.
Edward Knittig would make it 5-2 with a shot that beat Chris Quizi between the arm and the body, but that was as close as it would get. The Pistons would notch two more before the end of the period, with a final game score of 7-2.
Portage’s next game will see them head to Selkirk Friday night for a date with the Steelers.
