Terriers Struggle With Wolverines

Story Courtesy of Jared Thiessen (portageonline.com)

The Portage Terriers dropped their final matchup of the season against the Waywayseecappo Wolverines on home ice, by a 5-3 score.

A bad bounce and a poorly directed pass resulted in Waywayseecappo scoring a pair of goals in the first, while Portage was unable to answer. 2-0 Waywayseecappo after 20 minutes.

Daine Dellezay would get his team on the board early in the second period, as a puck battle in front came free, and after a couple of whacks, it hopped over the pad of the Wolverines netminder. The goal was his first of the season.  It wouldn’t stay that way for long though, as a missed assignment in their own end allowed for former Terrier Rhett Perrin to tip one in. 3-1 Wolverines through two periods.

The Dogs added a couple goals in the third, including one on the powerplay, but Waywayseecappo would add two as well, including an empty-netter to make it 5-3 in their favour.

The team will take a few days away from game action before heading to Winnipeg on Wednesday, March 5th to play the Winnipeg Blues. That game will be broadcast on CFRY, with the Hi-Tec Industries pregame show at 7:20pm, and puck drop at 7:30pm.
