Terriers Win Home Opener

Clark scores 2 on the night and named Keystone Sports Excellence third star.

Terriers win back to back as they take the Home Opener over Virden 7-2.

With 842 fans in attendance the Terriers took it to the Oil Caps early, Clark scoring his first of the game with a tip just :18 in to the period. Just before the halfway point, Knorr would beat Ellingsen to tie the game at one. The score would hold for most of the frame as both teams struggled to get quality shots on net. Near the end of the first, Thomson would get some help from an Oil Cap defender trying to knock the puck out of the air and tipped it passed Zubick for the lead and his first goal as a Terrier.

At 6:03 on a goal from Korytko Virden would once again draw even. The Terriers would pour it on after the mid period break, with Wowryk and Yawitt beating Kubrick giving the Terriers a 2 goal lead going in to the last frame.

Again the Oil Caps strike early in the 3rd finding the back of the net just 9 seconds in, Dahlke scoring high glove. After trading goals with Virden Mignault and Kirkup, the Terriers would shut the door. Brakel would score his first of the season and Clark would pick up his second of the night for the 7-4 final. Ellingsen faced 27 shots, making 23 saves for the win.

The Terriers next game is on the road Wednesday September 28th in Steinbach.
