Thank You Graduating Players

The Portage Terriers were proud to have eight graduating players on the team this season. They contributed in a meaningful way both on and off the ice. Thank you!
Adam Belzil – Acquired from the Northern MB Blizzard between the 2023-24 and 2024-25 seasons, Belzil had 22 points in 50 games last season in Portage. Playing as a defensive forward, the Levis, QC, product is reliable in the faceoff circle and often plays a shutdown role. Named an assistant captain, this year he put up 14 points in 37 games. At the Terriers’ team awards banquet he was named the defensive forward of the year.
Donavan Bodnar – From West St.Paul, MB, Bodnar had been away from the game prior to this season and only played three games between 2022-2025. This year he found a consistent role on the Terriers and had a record of 13-6, 3.36 GAA and .890 SV%.
Logan Cunningham – A junior hockey veteran, over his career, Cunningham played 41 games in the WHL, 25 (AJHL), 8 (BCHL), 17 (SJHL), and this year 10 with the Terriers. Brought in as a free agent to Portage after the trade deadline in January, Cunningham went 7-2, 3.22 GAA and .895 SV%.
Rhett Platt – Joining the Virden Oil Capitals in 2023, Platt was traded to the Terriers at the trade deadline last season. In 21 games with Portage he put up nine points. This year he was named an assistant captain and exploded offensively to lead the team with 70 points in 55 games. He was named the team’s most improved player at the end of year awards.
Breck Hirrschoff –  Brought to the Terriers before the Christmas break last season, Hirrschoff posted five points in 16 games. With a consistent role this season, Hirrschoff was named an assistant captain and increased his output to 25 points in 56 games. He plays a shutdown role with Belzil and Knittig.
Edward Knittig – From Annaheim, SK, Knittig spent some time with the Selkirk Steelers and the Melville Millionaires (SJHL) before being brought to Portage early this season. A goal scoring power forward, Knittig has 15 goals and 8 assists in 47 games this year.
Ryan Velan – Making his Junior “A” debut last season with the Terriers, Velan put up an impressive 15-4 record, 2.38 GAA and .918 SV%. This year he started 5-0, but was traded to the Cornwall Colts (CCHL) in November. At the trade deadline, the Montreal, QC, native was sent back to Portage to help shore up the crease. Velan was the recipient of the Brady Grasdal Memorial Scholarship award.
Owen Witt – A three year Terrier, Witt stepped into an increased leadership role this season when he was named captain. An outstanding skater, he has seen his production rise each year with the club, going from 18 to 27 to 36 points. This year he was named team MVP, top defenseman, and was recognized by the MJHL as top defenseman. Staying in the community for three years, he has made a sizeable contribution in Portage through reading in schools and mentoring with Big Brothers/Big Sisters. He awarded the RBC Community Ambassador.
