The Terriers pick up their 2nd win of the pre-season

With more veterans in the line-up with just over a week until the regular season kicks off, the Terriers picked up a 4-3 win over the Winnipeg Blues at the Bell MTS Ice Plex.

Daniel McKitrick opened the scoring just over halfway through the first giving Portage the early lead and the lone marker of the period.

Olstad tied the game at one early in the second beating Benoit. 2 minutes later Mackenzie Dwyer finished a pass from Fedyck to score on the powerplay. Former Terrier Dexter Kuzyck once again evened things up for the Blues with less than 2 minutes to go.

Brakel picked up his first goal of the preseason scoring on the powerplay 1:09 in to the 3rd. The play went back and forth for the next 10 minutes with both teams getting opportunities. McKitrick picked up his second of the game and the eventual game winner at 13:48.

The Blues called a time out and rallied to score and come within one, but with just 11 seconds to go it was too little too late.

Benoit made 11 saves on the night while Bennett saw 16 shots and made 13 saves.

The Terriers last game of the pre-season is this Sunday at Stride Place, game time 6:30 pm.
