The Portage Terriers are please to announce to commitment of former Terrier James McIsaac to R.P.I. (Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute). The R.P.I Engineers play in the ECAC in NCAA Division I Men’s Hockey and are based out of Troy, New York.
McIsaac dressed for 58 games in Portage last season and scored 25 goals and had 28 assists. He was also a part of the Turnbull Championship Terriers in 2016-17.
“Playing in Portage was amazing. The city of Portage has a passion for the Terriers making it a fun atmosphere to play in. Coach Blake gave me a huge opportunity there and I was able to develop my game and it really helped me make the jump to the USHL and now into NCAA hockey. ” – James McIsaac
Coach and GM Blake Spiller says “it’s always rewarding when a player resists the WHL in order to keep scholarship options open. James has had a good start to his season in Muskegon after being traded from Chicago.”
McIsaac talks about RPI reaching out to him after the USHL showcase in Pittsburgh. It was that relationship that developed and the visit to campus that made the decision for the 19 year old easy. “Seeing how great the program is and the vision they have for me, when the offer came, it was something I couldn’t turn down. I am extremely excited about joining the RPI family and I’m looking forward to the future.’
James will join the likes of former Terrier Jason Kasdorf who also donned the Engineers’ jersey.
