Funk Leads Team in Win Over Steelers

Portage hosted Selkirk for the 2nd time in as many nights last night at Stride. After losing in overtime in game one, the Terriers were looking to end the Steeler’s winning streak.

Selkirk once again opened the scoring, veteran Connor Barley got a step on Owen Murray and scored on the partial breakaway. Braden Billaney answered to tie the game at one.

Hometown Funk notched the next 2. Billaney and McPhee with helpers. Sokoloski, the overtime hero the night before, scored a powerplay marker to make it a one goal game.

Just 1:03 into the third Funk completed the hat trick calling for the pass on the rush,  Billany delivering the perfect sauce. Moffatt and Funk each notched another for a 6-2 final. Funk having a hand in all 6 goals.

Moore picked up his 7th win with 19 saves including a Basarab penalty shot. Portage went 3 for 6 on the powerplay.

Next up for Portage is Steinbach November 7th. This will be their 5th meeting this season Steinbach having the edge winning 3 of 4.
