The Portage Terriers fell 7-5 Thursday night to the visiting Neepawa Titans in preseason action. The Titans came out strong and jumped to a quick 2-0 lead within the first couple minutes. Right after that Lucas Campanella put the Terriers on the board and Justin Deschenes added one of his own to tie up the game at 2. The Titans bounced back and added 2 before the end of the 1st for a high scoring first period. 4-2 Titans after 1.
Returning forward Dexter Materi scored at the start of the 2nd to bring it back to a one score game. However that didn’t last long as Portage’s own Ethan Breaky scored for the Titans to make it 5-3 Neepawa. The Dogs weren’t done after that they followed it up with 2 of their own before the end of the 2nd courtesy of Blake Lambe and Justin Deschenes. 5-5 after 2.
It stayed tight until 2:01 left on the clock. The Titans pulled away with a goal from Addison McIntosh followed by an empty net goal to finish off the Terriers. Portage will head to Neepawa for their final preseason game on Saturday night.
