The Portage Terriers had fun on and off the ice Monday afternoon. They beat the Selkirk Steelers 8-0 and got to celebrate the huge win with their fans on the ice and in the lobby.
The game started slowly with both teams heading to the box. At the end of the first period Ryan Botterill opened the scoring by finishing off a nice pass from Mike Stubbs on the rush.
Portage continued their strong play in the second period adding two more goals from Kian Calder and Austin Peters. The flood gates opened in the third period with five straight Terrier goals. Daniel Siso had two, Mclean got one in his first game back from injury, Wagner notched his fifth of the season, and Calder scored his second of the night on the power play.
Jayden Catellier stopped 15 shots for his second shutout of the season. Portage has now had back to back shutouts. The Dogs now get a few days off before they play a pair of games next weekend against Neepawa.
After the game some of the players stayed on the ice for a Tim Hortons’ Skate with the Terriers. Fans were also able to enjoy hot chocolate and Timbits in the lobby. During the skate the other half of the team handed out their new Canadian Tire hockey cards and signed autographs.
Thank you to everyone who came out!
