Terriers Receive Recognition For Hot Start

It’s been quite the start to the season for the Portage Terriers, who are currently 6-1 and 2nd overall in the standings. Their hard work hasn’t gone unnoticed by the CJHL and MJHL.

Defenceman Hayden Lacquette has been named the Safe Work Manitoba Defenceman of the Month for September! The 19-year-old from Dauphin has been red hot to start the year, picking up two goals and six assists in his first six games.

Terrier defenceman Brandon McCartney was named one of the Original 16 Stars of the Week for Week 3. The Winnipeg, MB, native added three assists in a Terriers win on Thursday before adding a goal and two assists on Saturday night in another Terriers win.

Portage has also made it into the CJHL’s top 20 rankings. After starting the season 6-1, the Terriers are 13th in the country. The Steinbach Pistons (2nd) are the only other MJHL team to crack the top 20.
