Around the Pound: January 12, 2026

The Portage Terriers started 2026 with a strong 6-3 win over the Dauphin Kings on Wednesday night. Trevor Hill recorded a hattrick and now leads the league in goals with 26. Drayden Uhrina was awarded the Fehr Auto & Ag Terrier of the month and CJHL Star of the Month for December with 12 points in six games.

The Terriers then fell flat on the road Sunday night in Virden against the Oil Capitals 5-0.

The Terriers made four trades leading up to the deadline at 5pm on Saturday.

The Dogs reacquired G Ryan Velan (05) from the Cornwall Colts (CCHL) for a player development fee.

They acquired D Beck Bethard (07) and F Jacob Baumann (07) from the Flin Flon Bombers (SJHL) for a Player Development Fee.

F Dylan Westmann (07) was traded to the Northern Manitoba Blizzard for F Hunter Dingman (06).

In the final move of the day, the Terriers sent D Rhett Serfas (07) to his former team, the Merritt Centennials (KIJHL) for a PDF.

The road game scheduled for January 14 against the Winnipeg Blues has been moved to January 15 at 12pm in Stonewall, MB. The game will still be broadcast on 920AM CFRY. The Terriers’ next home game will be on Saturday against the Selkirk Steelers at 7:30pm.

UPCOMING

The home game on Dec. 17 vs the Niverville Nighthawks had to be postponed due to poor driving conditions. The game has been rescheduled for Tuesday Jan. 27.

The Terriers will be releasing their annual hockey cards after the Louis Riel Classic on Feb. 16.
