MJHL Update: Schedule, Showcase and More

Mark your calendars, the MJHL is planning to return in September!

It’s been a busy weekend of announcements for the Manitoba Junior Hockey League. On Friday they announced that Niverville will be the site of a new expansion franchise in 2022-23.

Saturday the league gave an overview of the 2021-22 season. It will be a two division format with teams playing 54 games (40 against teams in division, two against each opponent in the other division and two at a showcase). The Terriers will play in the East with Steinbach, Selkirk, Winkler and the two teams from Winnipeg (Blues and Freeze). Opening weekend will be September 17-19. The playoff format has yet to be determined. It’s anticipated that he ANAVET Cup and Centennial Cup will be making a return as well. This year the MJHL showcase will be held November 22-24 in Portage.

The MJHL-SJHL showcase is making its return and for the first time it will be held in Manitoba. The top players from Saskatchewan will play the best from Manitoba in Winnipeg at the Seven Oaks Sportsplex (Jan. 25-26).

Finally on Monday the Neepawa hockey club officially announced that they will be changing their team name to the Titans.
