Nick Henry named as CJHL Rookie of the Year Nominee

Portage’s own Nick Henry has received recognition at the National level as one of 5 nominee’s for the CJHL Rookie of the Year. The 16 year old has already been named the MJHL Rookie of the Year having earned 61 points in 50 games (26-35) for the Terriers in the regular season.

Where was Nick when he heard? “I was actually on the way to the sports therapists when I found out on Twitter. My first thought was wow is this really happening? “

The humble Portage native feels lucky and grateful to be playing in his home town. “Doing all this in front of my hometown playing for the Terriers I grew up watching has been a dream come true. Playing with Shawn and Brad (Bowles), they’ve really showed me the ropes and all the guys have been great and a lot of fun to play with. My coaches have given me every opportunity to improve myself as a player and I’m looking forward to heading to the Westerns.

The recipient of the 2015 CJHL Rookie of the Year and all CJHL League Awards will be announced during the week of May 9th-13th.
