January 10, 2026 – The Portage Terriers made three transactions prior to the 2026 MJHL trade deadline at 5pm.
The Terriers acquired D Beck Bethard (07) and F Jacob Baumann (07) from the Flin Flon Bombers (SJHL) for a Player Development Fee.
F Dylan Westmann (07) was traded to the Northern Manitoba Blizzard for F Hunter Dingman (06).
In the final move of the day, the Terriers sent D Rhett Serfas (07) to his former team, the Merritt Centennials (KIJHL) for a PDF.
The Terriers hope the addition of two new forwards and a defenceman can help propel them forward. “We think we brought in skill and speed with the recent acquisitions,” says Terrier head coach and GM Blake Spiller. “It will be an exciting time over the next few months working towards securing a playoff position in an obviously very tight and competitive division.”
Beck Bethard (5’10”, 161) has one point through 11 games this season with the Bombers. From Anchorage, Alaska, Bethard has played the last three seasons in Sioux Falls, SD.
Jacob Baumann (5’10”, 165) made the jump to junior “A” this season after scoring 55 points in 36 games last season in U18 AAA. The White Rock, BC, product has four points in 14 games with Flin Flon.
Hunter Dingman (6’1″, 181) is onto his sixth team in the last two seasons. This year, the Tampa Bay, FL, forward has 10 goals and 3 assists in 30 games with the Blizzard.
