Terriers blast Blizzard in 5-2 win

Celebrating one of five goals on their way to two points against OCN.

It was a great start to a three game week as the Terriers picked up 2 points against the OCN Blizzard at home last night.

Portage was first on the board with an early goal by Ashton Clark at the 2:30 mark of the first. Valiquette would tie the game at one for the Blizzard scoring high glove on Aiken. Hendrix would bury his first of the season with less than a minute to go in the period to give the Terriers a one goal lead heading in to the dressing room.

It would be all dogs in the second as they would pot two more, a powerplay goal from Brakel and Clark’s second of the night and 7th of the season for a 4-1 lead heading in to the final frame.

OCN would cut the lead to 2 on hard shot goal by King, but that’s as close as they would get. Leipsic scored the final goal for a 5-2 final over the Blizzard. Aiken made 23 saves to pick up the win in net.

Portage currently sits in second with a record of 7-1-0 with four players in the top 10 scoring – Leipsic, Thomson, Brakel and Clark.

The Terriers have 2 home games this weekend, Friday versus Dauphin and Saturday versus Wayway, game times 7:30pm.
