Terriers Finish Weekend With 2 Wins

Portage picks up their second win in as many nights beating the Swan Valley Stampeders 5-2 last night at Stride Place.

Much the same as the night before, Portage was the first to strike and they did it early.  Captain Chase Brakel backdoored a feed from linemate James McIsaac 1:14 into the game.  Swan’s Matthew Osadick answered to tie things up at one.

Portage pulled ahead a few minutes later when a patient Ty Barnstable  was playmaker to Joey Moffatt’s 5th goal of the season, but a turnover would cost the dogs the lead when a speedy Osadick picked up his second of the night with 1 second left on the clock.

The Terriers went on to score 3 unanswered goals in the final two frames from Leipsic, McIsaac and Brown. Rookie goaltender Zach Bennett picked up the win with a solid night turning aside 34 of 36 shots.

Up next for the Terriers is a trip to Steinbach this Wednesday.
