Terriers Stumble in Winkler

Weaver holds off Wowryk.

Portage dropped their second loss of the season to the Flyers in their barn this season.

Gall opened the scoring for Winkler shorthanded just past the halfway point of the first on a turnover in Portage’s end. Winkler led 1-0 after twenty minutes outshooting Portage 12-7.

Sokoloski scored Portage’s only goal of the game beating Weaver on an odd man rush and tying the game at one. With less than a minute to go in the frame, alone in front Gall would score his second of the night firing home a rebound.

The Terriers were unable to capitalize on their chances in the 3rd while Bates and Gall extended Winkler’s lead to a 4-1 final. Gall completing the hat trick with an empty netter.

Aiken with another solid showing in net making 27 saves in the loss, Weaver picking up the win for the Flyers.

The Terriers are on the road again as they head to Virden to face the Oil Capitals on Saturday, game time 7:30pm.
