Terriers to wear Team Canada Jerseys

Terriers’ defensive partners Brett Orr and Dean Stewart have been named to the Team Canada West Roster for the Junior A. Challenge taking place December 13-19th in Whitby, ON.

Orr and Stewart were 2 of 7 players from the MJHL that were invited to camp and the only ones to be named to the final roster. The list of 22 was picked from a group of 60 talented Canadian hockey players and according to Coach and GM Blake Spiller, both have earned their spot.

“I fully expected Orr to make the team based on his play last year as well as this. He is now getting the recognition he deserves as one of the top D in the CJHL. Stewart has really played well the past month and has a ton of upside to his game. He also had a very good camp and earned himself a spot on the team. Very proud and excited for both.“ – Blake Spiller

Both Orr and Stewart were part of the RBC Cup Championship Team and are no strangers to pressure and high intensity games in front of a packed house. Both players have expressed their excitement to wear the maple lead on their chest.

“Growing up playing hockey in Canada, it’s something you always dream of, to put on a Team Canada jersey. It’s pretty special.” Dean Stewart

Orr mirrors the excitement of Stewart in wearing the jersey but hopes to have something else around his neck when the tournament comes to an end. “I’m really excited to be a part of this group of guys and to get the opportunity to play, but for sure the goal is to win gold here.”

Team Canada West will play a pre-tournament game against Russia on Dec. 11th in Trenton. The preliminary round of the WJAC will begin December 13th when Canada West takes on the Czech Republic at 1:00PM EST.
