Kings Shutout Terriers

A close first period didn’t end up that way, as the Portage Terriers fell 4-0 to the Dauphin Kings on Sunday night in their first matchup of the season.

Portage gave up the first goal of the game after a face-off win took a beneficial bounce for the Kings, leaving Brody Green untouched on his way to the net. 1-0 Dauphin after 20 minutes.

The second period was more of the same, as Portage got several chances, but penalties and bad bounces hurt them. The Kings notched a pair of goals, one at the end of a power play, and one off of a skate in front of the net. 3-0 Dauphin with one period to play.

Portage seemed to be skating through mud while the Kings were not, adding another tally to finish the night 4-0. This was the first time the Terriers have been shutout this season.

The Dogs won’t have much time to dwell on the result though, as they head to Selkirk on Tuesday to take on the Steelers at 7:30 p.m.
