Terriers Best Oil Caps in Season Opener

Season Opener last night in Virden.

Last night the Terriers hit the ice at Tundra Oil and Gas Place for their Season Opener. The dogs would pick up their first win of the year and rookie netminder Brock Aiken would pick up his first MJHL shut out.

The first frame would end scoreless as both teams traded opportunities. The Terriers would give the Oil Caps 4 power plays, but they were unable to capitalize.

Over halfway through the second Brandon Stanley would score the first Terrier goal of the season and eventual game winner on a pass from Ryan Sokoloski.

The one goal lead would stand until the :37 mark of the 3rd when Mignault beat Kubrick on the rush. Clark would add to the lead with a shorthanded marker just over the halfway point of the 3rd with Leipsic finding the back of the net just a couple minutes later for the eventual 4-0 final.

Aiken was strong in net for Portage turning away all 30 shots and being named first star.

The Oil Caps will have another shot at the Terriers tomorrow in our home opener. Game time 6:30pm PCU Centre. Game sponsor RBC.
