The Portage Terriers picked up their first win of the preseason on Thursday night, 4-3 over the Neepawa Titans.
A few veteran players were mixed into the Terrier lineup and it made quite a difference from Tuesday night against Virden. Portage looked quicker and more organized on the attack. The line of Nathan Lenoski, Gabriel LaFlamme, and Cam Bullinger looked dominant all night long.
Lenoski opened the scoring in the first minute of the game and then added another late in the first. 2-1 Portage after one.
After a pair of Titan goals in the second period, Portage pulled it out in the third. Bullinger finished off a nice cross ice pass, and Witt had a point shot get through traffic on the power play. LaFlamme and Lenoski contributed on all four goals that were scored.
The Terriers started the game with Jayden Catellier in net and he stopped 16 of 18 shots. Gavin Renwick went in for the second half and stopped 14 of 15 against his former team.
The Terriers will now rest up and get ready for a rematch on Saturday night in Neepawa.
